Quick Overview

Why it rocks:

Winter King Hawthorn is the new "in vogue" accent tree for home use, and with good reason. Winter King has clusters of white flowers in mid spring. The glossy, pointy leaves turn yellow in the fall. The fruits are showy red berries carried in abundance from early fall right through to late winter. The peeling silver bark adds an interesting dimension to the landscape, and the simply amazing criss-crossing branching habit really adds interest. There is certainly a reason why this tree is referred to as the “Winter King”, and this tree will truly add year round beauty to your home.

Where to put it:

Winter King Hawthorn is a lower branched ornamental tree which is great for adding accent or privacy. This tree is best along property lines or in open areas of the yard, and will create an effective screen at eye level. Keep in mind that this tree does have small upper canopy thorns, so it is best not to put it near walkways if this is a concern. This is a low-branched tree, so keep in mind that it will block the view of anything you put it in front of. Hawthorn adds an extremely native look to the landscape, and looks great in odd numbered clusters. This tree should be kept at least 10ft away from buildings.

What it needs:

Hawthorn is a native species of tree, so they have no problem in our climate. This is an extremely tolerant tree which can grow in nearly any conditions.
