Saluting Branches

Together with local volunteers, tree care professionals and Arborists United for Veteran Remembrance, iTrees.com joined Saluting Branches to plant trees at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery

Beth Corrigan, Account Manager of Tree Plotter™ and Jim Teiber, Certified Arborist for the City of Joliet coordinated this year's Saluting Branches tree planting event at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. This location was one of a handful throughout Illinois and among many throughout the nation who came together to plant trees for Veteran Remembrance. It was so nice to see so many green industry professionals come together alongside local volunteers to do something more, not for networking, but to give back and everyone really gave it their all.

Trees, shrubs, and plants were donated by local nurseries including our very own, Spring Grove Nursery. Other tree care professionals donated time and equipment for regular tree care and maintenance of pruning, stump grinding and removal of dead or dying trees.

"Saluting Branches... is an opportunity for tree care professionals throughout the country to unite and do what we do best – provide exceptional tree care – to keep our veterans' cemeteries safe, beautiful places for all those who visit."

"Saluting Branches will expand the reach of the project beyond the chainsaw with a significant tree planting initiative.“While hazard tree removal and proper pruning will always be part of Saluting Branches, we wanted to leave a legacy,” said Ben Cooper, Saluting Branches Board President. “Our National Cemeteries are memorials to our veterans, but what about those that never came home? We learned that there are 1,589 Vietnam War POWs and MIAs that are still unaccounted for. We will plant a tree to honor each one of these men and women so they and their families know they are never forgotten.”
