Why it rocks:
Possibly one of the most beautiful trees we offer, Washington Hawthorn, features some of the most stunning fall colors available. The Orange/Scarlett fall color coupled with the glossy, bright red fruit proves to be a breathtaking combination. Washington Hawthorn also features white flower clusters in late spring and a glossy dark green leaf.
Where to put it:
Great for privacy and accent, the Washington Hawthorn is often planted along property lines. This is a low-branched tree, so keep in mind that it will block the view of anything you put it in front of. Hawthorn adds an extremely native look to the landscape and looks great in odd-numbered clusters. This tree should be kept at least 10ft away from buildings. Because this tree has large, aggressive thorns in the upper canopy it is best not to plant next to walkways or high traffic areas.
What it needs:
Hawthorn is a native species of trees, so they have no problem with our climate. This is an extremely tolerant tree that can grow in nearly any condition. Be sure to follow our watering guidelines for the first few growing seasons until the root system is well-established.
