Autumn Blaze Maple is one of the most popular trees for homeowners, and has been voted tree of the year by a number of different organizations.
Where to put it:
Autumn Blaze Maple shines in almost any location in the landscape. Because of its size, it should be planted at least 15ft from buildings to allow it plenty of room for its beautiful shade. Parkways, front yards, and backyards are great locations for this popular tree.

Does the Autumn Blaze Maple drop anything like seed pods, etc. throughout the year?

The Autumn Blaze Maple is what is considered "nearly seedless". It does not produce seeds at anytime during the year, unless it is under severe stress. Stress can cause the tree to develop a small amount of tiny seed pods. The tree does this as a way of healing itself. When the tree is not under large amounts of stress it will not produce seeds.

Great questions, and YES- Autumn Blaze Maple is one of the fastest growing trees we carry. With all trees they need a few years to get re-established after planting, and grow out a new root system. Once that happens they tend to take off pretty quick. Speed of growth is hard to predict and depends a lot on site placement and soil conditions; however, Autumn Blaze Maple are pretty reliably fast growing.

How well would an autumn blaze maple hold up if flooding were to occur? I am looking to plant this on a river lot.

Autumn Blaze Maple is a very durable tree that can thrive in almost any environment. It would do okay in a more wet location as long as it is not sitting in standing water at all times.

Autumn Blaze Maple is a very upright tree. Our high-quality nursery grows and prunes Autumn Blaze Maple to have a great branch structure that will carry along with it, its entire life. Maples, in general, do not have central leaders, but Redpointe Red Maple will have a pyramidal shape so you will be able to see a more prominent point at the top of the Redpointe Red Maple than the Autumn Blaze Maple because of the shape and structure of how each tree grows.
