Why it rocks:
Autumn Brilliance® Serviceberry is hands down the superstar of ornamental trees! This fabulous fusion of Downy and Allegheny Serviceberry takes the best traits from both, creating a tree that's nothing short of spectacular! Autumn Brilliance, sometimes called Juneberry or Saskatoon Berry, shows off throughout three seasons, showcasing fragrant spring blossoms, blueberry-like edible fruit, and brilliant fall foliage. In spring, the branches are adorned with small, crisp white flowers featuring five petals and yellow centers. As summer arrives, these flowers give way to delicious, blueberry-like fruit that both people and wildlife delight in. Try them in jam, pies, or smoothies! In autumn, this tree reveals its true brilliance as its medium green leaves transform into a stunning array of reds, oranges, and yellows. There’s so much to admire about this beautiful and functional tree. If you want to add charm, beauty, and privacy to your space, the Autumn Brilliance® Serviceberry is the tree for you!
Where to put it:
Autumn Brilliance® Serviceberry can be planted in a variety of locations around the home landscape. This useful tree is grown in both single-trunk and multi-stem clump forms. The clump form is ideal for screening around decks, patios, and the outer perimeter of pools, while the single-trunk form suits urban parkways, city courtyards, and other areas where space is limited. It blends beautifully with other plantings and can be complemented by tall shade trees such as Oaks, Maples, Elms, and Pines. When planting it in groups for a more naturalized feel, be sure to use odd-numbered clusters. With its upright, moderately spreading canopy that reaches approximately 15 feet wide, it serves as an excellent choice for privacy screening along property lines. Be sure to space this tree about 7 to 8 feet away from buildings to allow room for its elegant silhouette to flourish.
What it needs:
Autumn Brilliance® Serviceberry prefers full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. This adaptable tree can grow in almost any condition. It can be manicured, as needed, as it grows and matures. To ensure a strong & healthy root system, please follow our tree care guidelines during the initial growing seasons.
