Why it rocks:
Autumn Fantasy® Maple is a hybrid of Silver Maple and Red Maple. It is known for its rapid growth and reliability. This tree is particularly admired for its fall color— a vibrant deep red hue that contrasts against its leaves' silvery underside. Autumn Fantasy's broad, oval shape makes it an excellent shade tree during the summer, providing a pleasant outdoor space for relaxation. In winter, its bare branches create a sculptural element in the landscape, especially when lightly coated with snow.
Where to put it:
Autumn Fantasy® Maple is a great choice for tough urban sites such as city medians, parkways, or community parks. Its sturdy upright branches and tolerance to various soils make it a top choice for these locations. Plant Autumn Fantasy® Maple in your front yard, backyard, or parkway to add a splash of color throughout spring, summer, and fall. Please be sure to space the tree at least 15 feet from buildings to allow it room to reach its full mature spread.
What it needs:
Autumn Fantasy® Maple is one of the toughest and most adaptable shade trees. It is tolerant to various Chicagoland soils and site conditions, including dry sand and wet sites. It prefers full sun to partial shade and is less susceptible to chlorosis than the straight Silver and Red Maple. This exceptional variety is nearly seedless, making it a low-maintenance and tidy tree. For the first few growing seasons, please follow our tree care instructions to establish a strong root system.
