Vernal Witchhazel is a multistemmed, dense, rounded shrub with a neat and variable appearance. It is used quite effectively in groupings around building on the University of Illinois campus. This plant is also quite frequently seen in planter boxes and would make a great screen or unpruned hedge. The unusually early flower date, dense habit, and excellent fall color, which holds into the winter, make this tree a winner for any landscape.
